GENNARO DI BARTOLOMEO
Dib ― also known as Gennaro Di Bartolomeo ―was born in 1986 in a small city near Turin in Northern Italy. At the age of 11, Gennaro bought his first techno records and started building a collection based off his parents records from the sixties. Three years later Dib was introduced to the Detroit techno scene including artists like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin and Underground Resistance.
Dib bought his first set of turntables in 2000 and two years later bought his first drum machine; the Korg ER-1. After this purchase his room quickly flooded with drum machines, synthesizers and sequencers.
In 2004 he started to DJing in clubs and bars around Turin. in addition to the minimal techno music that was prevalent at that time, Dib began to indulge in the experimental sounds from artists like Apparat, Telefon Tel Aviv, Matmos, Alva Noto and his favourite artist, Bjork.
Dib began to produce his first minimal techno productions between 2006 and 2008. In early 2008, Dib decided to create the alter ego, Deeb, A project for glitchy electronic and ambient tracks. At age 27, Dib realized his dream; a vinyl release on Coincidence Records and in 2016, Stardub Records.
